Delete your Orant account

For the Orant app by Babanorth Labs. You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app or by email.

Don't have an account? Then we hold no account data about you. Everything Orant keeps, including your journal, progress and settings, is on your phone. To remove it, uninstall the app, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Orant → Storage → Clear storage.

Option 1: Delete in the app (fastest)

  1. Open Orant and make sure you're signed in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to the Me tab, then Settings.
  3. Scroll to the end and tap Delete account (under Sign out).
  4. Read what will be deleted, enter your password to confirm, and tap Delete my account. Your account is deleted straight away and you're signed out.

Option 2: Ask us by email

Forgot your password? Reset it first with Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, then use Option 1. If you can't get into the app at all, for example because you no longer have the phone, email us:

  1. Send an email to support@orant.online from the email address you signed up with.
  2. Use the subject "Delete my Orant account". You don't need to give a reason.
  3. If you're writing from a different address, we'll ask you to confirm you own the account before deleting anything. We will never ask for your password.
  4. We'll delete the account and email you to confirm. We complete requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from our live database:

  • Your email address, password hash and profile: public name, avatar and theme.
  • Your synced progress: active days and streak, reading-plan progress, saved prayers, quiz progress and favourites.
  • Your community content: feed posts, prayer requests, replies and "I prayed for this" taps.
  • Your group memberships and group check-ins, and any groups you own.
  • Your Ask Master allowance and any rewards unlocked with ads.
  • Any of your posts that were held for a safety review, and their review records.

What may be kept, and for how long

  • Backups: copies of our database are kept for up to 30 days for disaster recovery, then deleted automatically. Your data isn't restored from a backup into the live service after you've deleted it.
  • Reports about your posts: if someone reported one of your posts, the report (with a short excerpt of the post) is kept as a record of the moderation decision, and no longer than necessary.
  • Community bans: if your account was banned from posting, a one-way, keyed hash of your email address (never the address itself) is kept while the ban lasts, so it can't be avoided by signing up again. It's deleted when the ban ends.
  • Anonymous prayer counts: the anonymous "prayed N times" events are not linked to your account, so they stay part of the totals.
  • Emails with support: kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

Deleting your account doesn't delete what's stored on your phone, such as your check-in journal and your onboarding answers (name, tradition, goals). Uninstall the app or clear its storage to remove that too. Advertising data is held by Google. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads.

Delete some data without closing your account

You can delete your own posts, prayer requests and replies in the app at any time, and leave any group. To have other specific data deleted, such as your synced progress, email support@orant.online and tell us what you'd like removed.
